Many people say that human society has developed into a throw-away society, which is filled with plastic bags and rubbish. What are the causes and solutions?

 

These days, many countries experience a tons of garbage that come from humans like us. Especially, some trash is difficult to decay. This essay will examine possible root causes and explain how to reduce these problems.

To begin with, the obvious problem of producing waste in society comes from over- import. Some countries cannot produce high-tech devices by themselves, so many tech companies have to import new technologies from other nations. This leads to the production of waste in society because they do not have knowledge to recycle or dispose electronic waste. For example, all telecommunication companies in Thailand (like Dtac, Truemove, and AIS) order new versions of smartphones from Apple company every year to sell to their customers. As a consequence, many people usually update new phones with less awareness of producing the waste. Therefore, this becomes a serious problem as ordinary people do not know how to dispose the electronic waste. The government has to focus on increasing import tax to reduce influx of unnecessary items and force big tech companies to research on how to recycle and reuse electronics.

Another root cause of this issue is that many commercial businesses always use plastics to pack their products. Most items are decorated with thick plastic and paper for impressive purposes, hence the packaging waste is consumed only for single use. As a result, the non-biodegradable rubbish has increased and the landfills places are limited. These can be solved by encouraging people to reduce the use of plastic; moreover, the government should promote campaign to use alternative materials for packaging like bio-plastic or other materials.

In conclusion, even though many communities face the decoration of rubbish, people are still over- consuming and have less awareness to produce an influx of trash. In my opinion, the government should promote the alternative material instead of using of non-biodegradable materials, and tax rates should be increased to regulate over importing of products.
