The illustrators provide information about the proportion of the money spending on restaurants and homemade cooking and the number of meals which was consumed per year for two type restaurants (fast food and sit-in restaurant).

It can be immediately seen from the pie chart that the food budget spent on restaurant meals grew between 1970 and 2000. The figure increased sharply from 10 per cent to 50 per cent. Conversely, there was a rapid fall in the restaurant meals spending. It declined from 90 per cent to a half of the total of food budget.

Moreover, regarding the line graph, the number of meals which was consumed on both restaurants went up at the same period. For fast food meals, it began from 20 meals, and jumped rapidly to 85 meals. For sit-in restaurant, there was a margin climb from 20 meals to 50 meals per year.



For an overall observation, it apparent that the budget spent on restaurant meals faced an upward trend, while it was showed a downward trend in homemade cooking. Furthermore, the food consumption in both of the outdoor restaurant types experienced a growth in 2000. (189words/30mins)
