WT1-IELTS16-T1

The statistic demonstrates the proportion of electronic devices which were used in household, and a mount of time which was spent weekly on housework in one nation from 1920 to 2019.

Overall, it can be obviously seen that the number of usage in three household machines experienced an upward trend while time spending on house chore reduced significantly during the period.

The most essential thing is that the usage of household appliances grew dramatically; especially, refrigerator and vacuum machine were used in every household in 20th century. Initially, people knew refrigerator only 30 per cent, and they did not familiar with vacuum cleaner at all. However, washing machine was the most famous with around two fifth of households at the beginning of time, and it was a steady growth to reach 70 per cent in 1960. After that, the figure was a slight drop around 5 per cent in the next two decades before there was a slow increase to just over 70 per cent in the end of period.

In contrast, another striking to note is that amount of time spending on housework reduced rapidly. People spent time to do housework faster and faster which begun at 50 hours per week, and then it reduced to only 10 hours a week in 2019.
